Hello my name is Melissa Medina, and I am very excited to be the newDirector. I have been working here for almost 2 years and I truly enjoy everything the Lighthouse has to offer.

I am a proud navy wife of 17 years. My husband Gabriel and I have 3 beautiful girls, Illiana 15, Naomi 9 and Gabrielle 4. Naomi is in our After School program and Gabrielle is in our Kindergarten Readiness classroom.

I chose to work with children because they are truly unique. They are wonderful learners and they make each and every day special. To see them accomplish tasks makes this career worthwhile.

I have been working in the education field for 10 years. The last few years have been in childcare. I've worked as a Lead Teacher at Miramar Child Development Center in San Diego. The last couple of years I was at Corry Child Development Center in Pensacola, FL in the Voluntary Pre-kinder program. When I started with Children's Lighthouse I was the assistant in Room 6 and then took over the Lead in Room 8.Soon after, I was promoted to Curriculum Specialist, then moved up to Administrative Assistant, then Assistant Directorand now I have been given the opportunity to bethe CenterDirector.

I graduated December 2002 from the University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. I am certified in elementary education and my future plans are to return to school to obtain my Masters in Early Childhood.

I enjoy spending time with my girls, reading and listening to music. I am very honored to be a part of the Lighthouse Family.
