A Beka Curriculum

Here at Children's Lighthouse we use the ABeka Curriculum. It is a Nationally Acclaimed Value Based Curriculum. Children two through four years old en-rolled in our program are required to pay the ABeka fee. Our Curriculum of-ficially starts August 30, 2010. If you have not paid your ABeka fee by August 9, 2010, your child will not receive their books. The ABeka fee is $90. We are very excited to see your children grow with this curriculum over the next year!

School Age Parents - Aug 23 - First Day

Delivering and picking up Children from Public School

Parents: For the first day of school, all school age children will be provided a Childrens Lighthouse bracelet to help identify them as "CLLC transported" students. After the first day, the school administration will know where the children are to go.

Please notify your child's school and teacher that Children's Lighthouse at Stone Oak will be picking up your child on a daily basis.

Morning Delivery:

Children must be at the center no later than 7:00 am. If your child eats breakfast here, you must have them here no later than 6:50 am. You do not need to call if your child is not riding the CLLC vans in the MORNINGS.

Afternoon Pick—Up:

Parents MUST call Children's Lighthouse at (210) 495-2223 if your child is NOT riding the CLLC cans in the afternoon. Please call by 2:00 pm. You will be subject to a $5 charge if you do not call.

Immunizations

As your child receives new immunizations, please make sure you update
the front desk. We need to make sure your child's file is up to date with his/her current immunizations AND hearing & vision screenings. When checking your child in on the touch screen, there is an icon that says "immunizations". You can click on it to see what we still need for
your child.

Reminders:

  • Sick Children… If your child is sick, please keep them home.
  • The State of Texas Mandates that any child with a fever of 100.4 and higher MUST leave for the day. Children must be fever free for 24 hours before returning to the center.
  • Please check the television in the hallway everyday. This "Electronic Bulletin Board" sometimes displays important information. It is hard to catch every parent every day. This is a way for our management team to get information to our parents as quickly as possible.
  • Late Payments- Tuition is due on Wednesday mornings by 9:00 am. Just a friendly reminder, tuition payments received after Wednesday at 9:00 am will be subject to a $25 late fee and $10 for each additional day after that.
  • Want a free week of tuition? Refer a family to Children's Lighthouse & during their 5th week of enrollment, you will receive a FREE week of Tuition.

Parent's Night Out

Saturday, August 21st ~ 5:30-10:00 pm

The cost is $15 per child and $10 for any additional children in the family. We welcome siblings who are not enrolled in our program also!

We request payment when you sign up at the front desk. By paying in advance we are better able to staff the center for the night.

The money is non-refundable, so if you decide not to bring your children to Parents Night Out the staff will still be paid for their time.

Also, we would appreciate if you would not include payment for Parent's Night Out in your tuition check.

Bring your child in their PJ's. We will be serving hotdogs for dinner and watching a movie.

Director's Corner

I would like to thank all of our wonderful families for being a part of Children's Lighthouse Learning Center.

We are so excited to start the school year on August 23rd using the nationally acclaimed A BEKA curriculum. Our teachers have been, and will continue, going through extensive training so they will be prepared to successfully teach our children. Our Infant curriculum will also continue with the excellent Innovations training for our infant teachers as well.

We hope you are enjoying all the art projects your children are bringing home. We look forward to a productive school year!

Hooray for Fall! I'm sure we're all ready for some heat relief. Thanks again for your continuous support and as always, we appreciate our families.

Your Center Director,
Casandra Solis

Infant I

Happy August from Infant I. It's hard to believe it's already August! It seems like just yesterday the new year began. With it being August, some babies are getting older and as they grow they will move up to the next class. We are sad to say goodbye to Jacob M. and Coen E. Both of these boys will be moving up and as much as I know we will miss them everyday, we know they are in great hands with Ms. Melanie. While these boys move up, we look forward to the new babies that we get to grow with. Open House is this month, August 12th. Please come by and say hi!

Many of us are returning parents, for others it is the first time sending our little ones off on an adventure without mom and dad. Whether you cheer this monumental event or struggle to see your little one go off on their own, I welcome you to Children's Lighthouse Learning Center! New parents, returning parents, one child, two children or more, we are all in this together, and that's what makes CLLC a great place. I'd also like to take a moment to introduce myself. I'm Claudia R. and the proud mom of Sophia, who is entering the 2-3's class. This is my first year working with CLLC. I will be working the 2's class. I have a CDA and have worked in childcare since 2000.I believe that young children learn best in a safe, warm, nurturing environment with consistent routines, and playful, positive interactions with other children and adults. I believe the inevitable struggles and tantrums toddlers go through are teachable moments, opportunities to teach communication, problem solving, and sharing. To avoid any hurt feelings, please leave toys at home, unless your child is asked to bring something for show & tell. I am more than happy to work with you and your child in potty training, when you feel your child is ready. A parent's readiness to train is just as important as a child's readiness to learn. Accidents are expected during training. It's a normal part of the learning process. These will decrease over time. A positive attitude and kind patience can make potty training easy and fun. I am looking forward to a great year with you and your child. Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Twos/Threes

Welcome back! I hope everyone had a wonderful summer! We are very excited to start the A Beka curriculum. During the month of August we will review our classroom rules so the children can get familiar with the routine. I reinforce the routines and rules in the classroom on a daily basis. Just a reminder: Please bring a set of extra clothes, one small blanket, and a pillow to fit inside a plastic shoebox sized container.

Also, please be sure to supply pull-ups and wipes if your child is being potty-trained. We are very consistent on potty-training. It is our goal to have the class potty-trained before they are promoted to the next room.

I am looking forward to getting to know your child. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to ask or schedule a meeting.

~ Ms. Crystal
